What is the difference between Taekwondo and other martial arts like Karate?
Different forms of martial art originate from different parts of the world, e.g. Kung Fu from China or Karate from Japan. Taekwondo is native to Korea. Taekwondo emphasizes kicking techniques more than other forms of martial art. It improves balance, flexibility, coordination and endurance. Taekwondo is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and it is an internationally recognized Olympic Sport.
What are the benefits of practicing Taekwondo?
Taekwondo improves: Physical fitness, self-confidence, discipline, mental agility, concentration at work and school, stress relief, bully-proof, overall feeling of well-being.
How young can my child start learning Taekwondo?
Although we recommend age 4 and up, we generally judge readiness if your child is:
  • Able to follow simple commands, e.g. "stand in line please"
  • Able to display manners, e.g. wait for his/her turn
  • Able to pay attention for a span of minimum 30 minutes (class time)
  • Able to use the washroom by himself/herself
Am I too old to start learning Taekwondo?
It is never too late or too old to start learning, even Taekwondo. Taekwondo is one of the few sports that allows you to learn at your own pace. Our recreational level programs allow everyone to learn and practice Taekwondo according to his/her comfort level.
What is the minimum level of fitness to start learning Taekwondo?
There is no fitness requirement to start our Beginners program, with the exception of any pre-existed condition or previous injury that requires doctor's approval to start any physical activity. If you are ready to get fit mentally and physically, then you are ready to join us!
How often do we attend classes?
As often as you can! With our unlimited attendance guarantee, students can come to classes according to their own schedule. Most of our current students attend classes 2 to 3 times a week. Health Canada recommends school-age children a minimum of 60 minutes' daily physical exercises.
